Summary/Objective

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) at Patient Centered Services will provide mental health care and psychiatric services to patients across various settings, including home health and clinical environments. The PMHNP will assess, diagnose, and treat individuals with psychiatric disorders, develop treatment plans, and prescribe medications. Working as part of an interdisciplinary team, the PMHNP ensures that patients receive high-quality, patient-centered mental health care.

Essential Functions

Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments, including obtaining medical and psychiatric histories.

Diagnose mental health conditions and create individualized treatment plans.

Prescribe medications and manage pharmacologic treatments, monitoring for side effects and therapeutic efficacy.

Provide psychotherapy and counseling to patients with psychiatric disorders, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and more.

Collaborate with physicians, therapists, social workers, and other healthcare providers to ensure holistic care.

Maintain timely and accurate patient documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR) system.

Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.

Participate in case reviews and interdisciplinary team meetings to discuss patient progress and adjust treatment plans as necessary.

Provide crisis intervention services as needed, managing acute psychiatric episodes.

Stay informed on the latest evidence-based practices and advances in psychiatric care.

Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations, including HIPAA.

Physical Demands

This position may involve prolonged sitting, standing, and occasional movement. The ability to perform light physical tasks such as lifting medical supplies or documentation (up to 20 pounds) may be required.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

Full-time or part-time positions are available, with flexible scheduling options. Some evening and weekend shifts may be required based on patient needs.

Travel

Occasional travel within the Washington, DC metro area is required to visit patients and attend meetings or trainings.

Required Education and Experience

Master’s or Doctorate degree in Nursing (MSN or DNP) with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health.

Current certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).

Active and unrestricted Nurse Practitioner license in Washington, DC.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in psychiatric/mental health settings.

Experience in medication management, therapy, and crisis intervention.

Preferred Education and Experience

Experience working in community health, home health, or outpatient mental health settings.

Experience providing telehealth psychiatric services.

Multilingual abilities (especially English/Spanish) are a plus.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

Current CPR/BLS certification.

Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for home visits (if required).
