The Role:
The Staff Accountant, Corporate Accounting is fundamental within the finance department, responsible for supporting general accounting tasks, assisting in financial reporting, preparing accurate journal entries, conducting reconciliations, and contributing to the month-end close process. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, a solid grasp of accounting principles, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Responsibilities:
•Ensure timely and accurate recognition of revenue with preparation of monthly journal entries
•Evaluate customer contracts to determine proper method of revenue recognition under company policies and in accordance with ASC 606
•Maintain integrity of revenue recognition systems, including spreadsheet analysis and contract management database
•Work closely with the Consultant teams, Billing, and Contract Management departments for the completion of contracts and the assessment of contract terms and conditions for billing and revenue recognition
•Responsible for completing and reviewing monthly account analysis by reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies
•Understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), general accounting process and internal control elements
Required Qualifications:
•Undergraduate degree in Accounting.
•1+ years of accounting experience required.
•Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
•Must be information technology savvy.
•Hands on, with the ability to balance the "big picture" with tactical execution.
•Demonstrates the ability to think clearly about business problems, breaking down problems and presenting ideas for solutions while evaluating the pros and cons of each option.
•Proactive, energetic, and possessing a strong work ethic.
•Forms networks of positive business relationships that enhance personal and business success.
•Demonstrates strong, realistic confidence in oneself in challenging situations and maintains a calm focus on results over time.
•Detail-oriented.
•Advanced Excel skills.
•Strong organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
•CPA highly preferred.
•Experience in public accounting, auditing public companies, and/or revenue accounting experience from public companies highly preferred.
•Knowledge of PeopleSoft General Ledger and Oracle HFM a plus.
•Advanced skill level in Microsoft Excel a plus.
