Definition:

Archives Technicians support the work of the Archives, performing a variety of diverse detailed and complex tasks that require the ability to work independently within established practices.

Archives Technicians execute duties crucial to the long-term preservation of government records. These duties may include manipulation and conversion of images and indexes, along with document preservation to improve access to records.

Job Functions and General Responsibilities:Assists archivists with processing paper collections by removing metal fasteners, humidification, flattening and labeling.Works with archivists to prepare databases and projects for access.Organizes digital files, which may involve entering box and folder numbers, editing images and/or renaming files.Prepares imaging projects.Verifies project contents are readable and complete.Retrieves, delivers, and refiles records.Assists with filling copy requests.Performs all other duties assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Experience in operating personal computers using Microsoft Office SuiteBasic database and data entry knowledge required.High level of accuracy in repetitive tasks required.Proficiency in expressing ideas clearly and concisely orally and in writing.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, public officials, private groups and the public.Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. repeatedly throughout the workday, and climb a ladder to retrieve and return materials.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or proof of equivalency required; College degree preferred. Must possess a valid Missouri driver's license.
