Career Opportunity

The Idaho State Tax Commission is seeking a database analyst 2 with solid skills in database design and maintenance to join our Property Tax team. This role may be perfect for you if you enjoy organizing and make sense of collections of information to create functional database systems. The successful candidate will be well-versed in database design, installation, and maintenance with a background in programming. Candidates should have strong problem solving and decision-making skills and be willing to troubleshoot problems and new requirements and offer solutions. The position is in the Boise Office in the Chinden Campus, 11321 West Chinden Blvd, Building 2. Applications will be accepted until a qualified candidate is selected. Minimum salary is $37.68 per hour, rate of pay will depend on qualifications and experience.

Responsibilities:

Interact with internal staff, various county staff, and third-party vendorsDesign databases and data access methods for softwareSQL Server supportIIS SupportMaintain the data dictionaryMonitor and optimize database usageAdminister and manage databases in production environmentsApply software releases/patches in countiesPlan for database upgrades and forecast storage and infrastructure needsParticipate in the evaluation and selection of database technologiesOccasional travel to counties in IdahoMinimum Qualifications

Good knowledge of each of the following:Relational database principles and data normalization. (Typically gained by completing the core requirements of an associate's degree or certification related to relational database concepts and data normalization OR at least one (1) year of experience (including combination of work experience and internships) regularly working with and supporting relational databases as part of your primary job responsibilities.)Structured Query Language (SQL). (Typically gained by completion of the core requirements for a certification related to Structured Query Language (SQL) design or administration AND at least one (1) year of experience (including combination of work experience and internships) writing, testing, and utilizing SQL as part of your primary job responsibilities OR at least two (2) years of work experience (including combination of work experience and internships) writing, testing, and utilizing SQL as part of your primary job responsibilities.)

At least 1 year of experience in each of the following:Installing, administering, and monitoring production databases and database serversInteracting directly with clients to analyze customer needs
