Hours: 1st shift - Monday - Friday 7:00am-3:00pm2nd shift - Monday - Friday 3:00pm-11:00pmPay: $18-24/hour based on experienceThis is a direct hire opportunity!Job Purpose:Set up, operate, or tend machines that extrude and form continuous filaments from synthetic plastic materials.Essential Duties and/or Responsibilities:Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements. Modifies settings to ensure quality of profile.Completes all required paperwork as needed on a timely basis. Takes hourly readings of machine gauges and document results on run sheets. Counts & reports production and inventory at end of shift.Studies and follows set-up and run sheets for each job. Selects nozzles, spacers, wires and brackets.Selects die, extruder screw, and sizing rings for each job run and fits to machine. Connects all hose to circulate steam, water, air or oil to die holder.Assists Operators to set up machines.Weighs raw materials and color mixes as needed for each job; adds mixes, colors and catalysts into extruder machine.Loads pre-mixed, dry plastic material into hopper.Sets stops or guides to cut profile to specified length as indicated.Operates machine and sets controls to regulate vacuum, air pressure, sizing rings, temperature and speed.Operates all spools or reels to place extruded product correctly for shipping.Operates and sets up all downstream equipment and tears down as needed.Removes jams from machine and cleans dies or sizers without causing damage to them.May help in the packaging of finished profile, as well as cleaning up scrap and taking it to grinding machine bins.Cleans area around extrusion lines and mops up excess water.Qualifications:1-2 years of extrusion experienceHas knowledge of working with various Quality Control measuring devices, such as calipers and micrometers. Examines all products for defects (wrinkles, splits, bubbles, wrong dimensions, length, width, etcetera) to ensure adherence to customer's specifications.Able to observe machine operation to detect profile defects or machine malfunction. May need to perform minor machine maintenance such as lubricating machines or cleaning dies.Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple priorities.Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
