Job Summary: The Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) Administrator serves as a key onsite IT resource for implementation and support of medical imaging applications. Primary responsibilities include supporting PACS, CVIS PACS, and technical medical imaging interfaces and related technologies (e.g., voice recognition), supporting inpatient and outpatient medical imaging, and providing second level support as a local medical imaging subject matter expert to resolve incidents or fulfill requests received from the ServiceNow platform. The PACS Administrator ensures interface functionality, and clinical processes are coordinated and functioning effectively. This individual performs application maintenance and testing of application upgrades and fixes.

Minimum Education: Associate's degree preferred with a focus in Information Technology or a Health Care Discipline.

Licensure, Registration and/or Certification: None.

Work Experience: 2 years experience working in a hospital setting overseeing or maintaining a PACS system.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience working with McKesson, Powerscribe radiology reporting platform, and Merge imaging software. Knowledge of HIS/RIS, PACS, and voice recognition systems with an understanding of Digital imaging modality operations, as well as a familiarity in DICOM functionality, the resolution of a PACS database and study queues. Working knowledge of basic Radiological procedures and practices. Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Access as might be used in the preparation of correspondence and reports. Basic knowledge of Unix operating platform. Basic knowledge of Windows operating platform. Effective interpersonal, written and oral communication skills suitable for the communication of technology based information. Ability to organize and prioritize work in an effective and efficient manner. Ability to be detail oriented as required in the examination of clinical and numerical data.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: With general oversight, administers and supports PACS, CVIS PACS, and technical medical imaging interfaces and related technologies (e.g., voice recognition). Supports inpatient and outpatient medical imaging. Ensures medical imaging system, interface functionality, and clinical processes are coordinated and functioning effectively. Delivers hands-on training for medical imaging applications, as necessary. Reviews and provides input to Information Security plans regarding medical imaging security requirements. Provides input regarding roles and access to meet HIPAA requirements on medical imaging applications. Promotes medical imaging application security and confidentiality and helps ensure compliance. Participates in the testing and implementation of clinical applications where medical imaging applications integrate with those clinical applications. Performs quality audits and tracks metrics related to medical imaging system use; coordinates the execution and use of tools for audits. Builds strong relationships with core customer base for medical imaging applications.

Decision Making: The carrying out of non-routine procedures under constantly changing conditions, in conformance with general instructions from supervisor.

Working Relationships: Works directly with patients and/or customers. Works with internal and / or external customers via telephone or face to face interaction. Works with other healthcare professionals and staff. Works frequently with individuals at Director level or above.
