A well-established structural steel fabrication company, is looking for a motivated individual with experience in structural steel fabrication and erection to join our team in a Project Engineer Trainee role. The SWD business area included Arizona, California, New Mexico, Nevada and Southern Utah. Candidates for this position may be required to travel to job sites with the area of SWD purview if necessary. Essential functions may include, but are not limited to the below (training in all of these functions will be provided to the trainee during an intensive training period):
Determine and define scope of work and deliverables. Predict resources needed to complete project. Obtain necessary permits, approvals, and other regulatory prerequisites. Manage costs in order to meet budget. Provide direction over contracts and subcontracts. Coordinate production schedules and requirements with shop. Manage delivery schedule and activities. Issue progress updates as needed regarding costs and timelines. Ensure work is done in compliance with all relevant building and safety codes. Select and manage subcontractor and supplier relationships. Coordinate efforts across entire project between architects, designers, engineers, and subcontractors.
QUALIFICATIONS:
4-year degree in Engineering or a construction related field is preferred. Ability to read and comprehend plans, specifications, addenda, bid materials, contracts and related construction documents, with an emphasis on structural drawings and steel shop drawings. Additional training in these skills will be provided. Excellent oral and written communications skills. Excellent basic math and algebra skills. Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
