Purpose of the Job

The Community Partner Engagement Coordinator plays a vital role in fostering and strengthening the credit union's relationships with local communities. The position is responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing community and business partner engagement programs and outreach strategies. This position’s efforts are focused on building relationships and implementing engagement activities with communities and business partners to support and increase the credit union's visibility and impact within the communities it serves.

**This position will support markets in Alamance, Guilford, Randolph Counties (NC) & Pulaski, Wythe Counties (VA).

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Supports Truliant Foundation, community outreach and financial wellness strategies that strengthen Truliant’s visibility, brand and social impact.
  • Identifies, recommends and coordinates approved community and business partner engagement opportunities that support the Credit Union’s mission and focus areas.
  • Facilitates sponsorship agreements and engagement needs for the community sponsorship program and the Foundation’s charitable programs.
  • Tracks sponsorships and benefits associated with community sponsorships and maintains regular communication with organizations to ensure fulfillment of sponsorship and charitable agreements.
  • Oversees development and execution of community and business partner event protocols including pre-event staffing calls and/or meetings, event preparation, attendance, onsite engagement, event follow up and recommendations to enhance engagement activities.
  • Identifies opportunities for financial education workshops in the community and business partner locations. Coordinates and facilitates financial education workshops for community and business partner organizations and their audiences.
  • Recommends appropriate staff to invite and coordinates attendance at community and business partner engagement events and financial education workshops.
  • Serves as a primary point of contact at networking and community events within the market and provides support to increase awareness of branch services and locations.
  • Creates, builds and strengthens relationships with community leaders, community organizations, Foundation grantees and business partner representatives.
  • Works collaboratively with internal employees within various departments to provide resources for community and business partner engagement events where Truliant is a sponsor and/or an exhibitor. Consults and acts as a liaison with staff to create, develop and coordinate community and business partner efforts.
  • Manages and distributes materials necessary to support Truliant presence at community and business partners events; Coordinates data collection and presentation as part of the evaluation process including event surveys, financial education surveys, and sponsorship feedback.
  • Maintains regular communication with TFCU managers and leaders in the region, to ensure event awareness, informative updates and exposure to community and business partner engagement opportunities. Responds in a timely manner to all communications regarding community and business partner engagement activities.
  • Identifies and recommends community service opportunities through research or provided by community partners and employees.
  • Serves as a knowledgeable resource and connector between community and business partners and the Foundation; addressing and redirecting charitable giving inquiries, when appropriate.
  • Executes strategic plans and tactics to maximize corporate involvement, community outreach, philanthropic activity, business partner support and brand immersion.
  • Exercises independent judgment and discretion in carrying out responsibilities with minimal supervision; resulting in increased membership and engagement with credit union services.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Must have sound understanding of standard concepts, practices, procedures, regulations and compliance within the community engagement environment
  • Must have excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written with the capacity to explain complex financial concepts in a clear and engaging manner
  • Must have superior interpersonal skills; ability to get along with diverse personalities; tactful, mature, flexible, compassionate
  • Must have strong project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage projects from inception to completion
  • Must be able to manage multiple priorities and projects at once
  • Must have excellent presentation and public speaking skills
  • Must be able to work in a team environment, with strong collaborative skills
  • Must be proficient in MS Office, including Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Must have ability to understand all business processes within the Credit Union
  • Must be detail oriented and well organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Must be able to work independently
  • Must be able to work in a general office environment
  • Must be flexible and able to shift resources and priorities as required
  • Must be able to complete all assignments using independent judgment and discretion with minimal supervision
  • Must have the ability to work outside normal business hours to include evenings and weekends in support of department activities and needs.
  • Should possess a strong commitment to providing excellent service to Truliant’s members

Physical Requirements

  • Occasional standing, walking, bending, and stooping required
  • Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer
  • Must be able to moderately lift or move up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds
  • Frequent travel required; must be able to travel within the market Truliant serves.

Education and Background

  • Bachelor’s degree or 5 years of related experience in community engagement and nonprofit development work required
  • Experience in building and developing relationships with community and/or business leaders and local community organizations required
  • Previous Financial Services and Counseling experience required
  • Previous relationship management experience on behalf of an organization preferred
  • Certified Credit Union Financial Counselor (CCUFC) required
