Are you ready to help guide one of the world’s largest technology companies through its significant litigation matters and regulatory investigations? Microsoft, a world technology leader, has an immediate Senior Corporate Counsel opportunity for a seasoned attorney to join its Litigation Team. This position will increase the capacity of the litigation group to meet the challenges of a growing worldwide litigation docket that includes a wide variety of civil matters and regulatory investigations. Occasional travel will be necessary both within the United States and internationally, as dictated by our docket.ResponsibilitiesManaging assigned cases, including class action, arbitration, gaming, and other commercial litigation cases:retention of outside counsel and negotiation of alternative fee arrangementsformulation of litigation strategy,oversight of all litigation activities,marshalling of internal facts, and oversight of electronic discovery, including use of AI in discovery processes,review and editing of all written advocacy,preparation of outside counsel for oral argument and trial, andin all other ways exercising primary responsibility for representation of Microsoft.Frequent and regular communication with outside counsel, and other law department attorneys, paralegals and staff.Counseling Microsoft’s various business units, including its gaming business units, on risk mitigation, and developing strategic and innovative solutions that anticipate risks and address issues while achieving business objectives.Budgeting and forecasting outside counsel spend.Providing thought leadership to Microsoft executives on litigation trends and policy, and occasional external engagement through written articles and speaking engagements on such issues.Working efficiently to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with a demanding case workload, while prioritizing workflow to adjust for fluctuations.QualificationsRequired/Minimum QualificationsJuris Doctor Degree or international equivalent degree AND 6+ years experience as a practicing attorneyActive license to practice law in a jurisdiction and capable of meeting admission requirements in relevant jurisdiction.Experience in complex civil litigation and government enforcement actions, including first chair responsibility in some cases and some trial/arbitration experience.Additional or Preferred QualificationsExperience working with technology and gaming companies is a plus. International litigation experience is a plus.A demonstrated ability to direct creatively and effectively the defense of a sophisticated client in complex litigation.Interpersonal and collaboration skills, and diverse cultural experience.The desire and ability to work as part of a diverse and inclusive team, and to foster diversity and inclusion in the workplace.A willingness and aptitude for learning about new business strategies, new technologies and new areas of the law.Knowledge and understanding of trial presentation techniques.Legal Counsel IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $141,800 - $248,800 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $179,300 - $268,900 per year.Certain roles may be eligible for benefits and other compensation.
