PGL, a subsidiary of WEC Energy Group, is seeking an Engineering Manager - Transmission Design in our Chicago AON location. This position offers flexibility for a hybrid work arrangement (remote/on-site) with time spent in the Chicago office.

Job SummaryOverall responsibility for planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance of city gate stations, interconnections with interstate/intrastate pipelines, and gas transmission pipelines for Illinois utilities. Support for Pipeline Integrity Management for gas transmission pipelines at all WEC gas utilities. Oversight of engineering and project management for special projects at all Illinois gas utilities, including pipeline projects, LNG facility projects, and storage facilities projects. Provide leadership and direction to Gas Engineering Services work group.

Job Responsibilities

Overall responsibility for design, construction, operation, and maintenance of pipeline interconnections, city gate stations and gas transmission pipelines. Analyze the need for gas gate deliveries for the Illinois utilities in coordination with future planning for gas transmission and feeder lines. Develop and review recommended procedures, standards, and best practices for stations and gas transmission lines. Oversee construction project management for transmission line and station projects. Coordinate with interstate pipeline companies on facility planning, siting, and operational issues.

Provide oversight for engineering and project management of special projects requiring detailed engineering analysis and project management in support of all Illinois gas utilities. Examples would include large scope pipeline construction projects and projects at LNG facilities and storage field facilities.

Provide leadership and direction to employees in the Gas Engineering Services work group. Develop employees through coaching, mentoring and providing performance feedback. Promote knowledge and understanding of key performance drivers including customer service, financial responsibility, sense of urgency and personal accountability.

Provide staff support for all Engineering Department requests including specialized design of engineered systems, analysis of work products, interpretation of codes and standards. Leads the development and implementation of continuous improvement of transmission design functions.

Provide leadership to the corporate Pipeline Integrity Management Committee. Provide guidance to GIS and Integrity Management on PHMSA and National Pipeline Mapping System (NPMS) submittals and reporting. Work with Gas Engineering and Gas Operations leadership staffs to assure all Illinois utilities are in compliance with federal and state pipeline safety codes for pipeline integrity of gas transmission systems.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.

7+ years relevant engineering experience.

Demonstrated experience leading or supervising others.

Must meet company standards for driving and possess a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

Demonstrated experience in transmission and distribution system planning, design, construction, operation, or maintenance.

Demonstrated experience in business or financial planning, such as preparing construction budgets, operations and maintenance budgets, or project cost estimating.

Experience with energizing and de-energizing natural gas systems.

Pay Range Minimum : $113,597.64

Pay Range Maximum : $184,596.10

The pay range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. The starting salary/pay within the pay range will be based on several factors, as applicable, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, shift, travel requirements, collective bargaining agreements, and business and organizational needs. At WEC Energy Group, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role.
