The Penguin Random House Sales Analysis team is seeking a skilled, inquisitive Associate Director who can mine a variety of data sources and uncover business recommendations to support the Random House Children's Group, Penguin Young Readers, and our sales teams. In this role, you'll work on an ever-changing roster of projects, looking across categories, genres, and formats to identify growth opportunities for our titles. You will also provide key marketplace reporting and give presentations to a variety of departments within the Children's Divisions, as well as the Sales Department on a recurring basis. The Associate Director will report to the Vice President, Sales Analysis. This is an excellent opportunity for a curious person looking to flex their analytical muscles and help us leverage data to sell more books. What you'll do: Provide analytical support for Random House Children's Group, Penguin Young Readers, and our sales teams by pulling relevant sales data and conducting marketplace research, with the goal of making the data more accessible to relevant audience and explaining the story behind it Deliver marketplace updates and research presentations at regular Editorial, Marketing, and Sales meetings Work directly with the Publishing team, Editors, and Marketers to identify data-driven trends and opportunities for our titles and authors Coordinate with Consumer Insights, Amazon Search, and other corporate departments to deliver comprehensive insights to our publishing and sales teams Fully manage ad hoc projects, including identifying what data is needed, how to best present the information, and working independently with key stakeholders Manage one direct reportThis is a hybrid position with in-office responsibilities in our New York City office approximately once a month. We will consider candidates who are within a commutable distance to our office in Manhattan. An ideal candidate: Minimum of 6 years of relevant work experience Strong PowerPoint and general presentation creation skills, with an emphasis on data visualization Has excellent analytical skills with the ability to connect data findings to business applications and effectively communicate results to a nontechnical audience Is proficient in MS Excel; experienced with PowerBI or other data visualization software. Superb attention to detail Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects Able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment Demonstrates eagerness to learn, question our assumptions, and dig into data from a variety of angles Has familiarity with the kids book industry Prior management experience is a plus, but not mandatoryThe salary range for this position is $80,000 - 90,000.
