Job Title: Registered Nurse Job Specialty: General Nursing Care in Corrections Job Duration: 6 Months Shift: Nights Guaranteed Hours: 40 Hours Experience: 1 Year of Professional Nursing Experience Preferred License: Current State Licensure Certifications: Valid Driver's License Must-Have: Ability to Speak, Read, and Write English Job Description: - Plan and provide comprehensive nursing care, including executing Licensed Independent Providers' orders and dispensing medications.- Assist Licensed Independent Providers in patient examinations and treatment.- Apply nursing and supervisory techniques in the care and treatment of inmates/residents.- Attend patient calls with physicians; prepare examining room and equipment.- Perform medication dispensing and documentation according to policies and procedures.- Coordinate medication and treatment orders with Licensed Independent Providers and handle emergencies.- Assess and refer inmates/residents to healthcare facilities as needed.- Perform emergency procedures and assist in coordinating medical services.- Monitor inpatient hospitalizations and provide guidance to nursing staff.- Maintain a good working relationship with facility staff and providers.- Use sound independent judgment to meet responsibilities.- Evaluate medical services to prevent inappropriate use or duplication.- Maintain confidentiality of medical records.- Assist with reviewing medical files to ensure all services are documented.- Monitor potential catastrophic illnesses and audit pharmacy use.- Comply with applicable pharmacy laws regarding controlled substances.- Record inmate/resident behavior and inspect medical units for contraband.- Provide health counseling and education.- Assist in preparing and maintaining records and reports.- Evaluate safety requirements for a safe working environment.- Facilitate program accreditation by providing efficient medical services.- Prepare safety and accident reports and manage emergencies.- Coordinate the movement of inmates/residents for medical treatment.- Perform searches to prevent contraband and engage in security functions.- Take action to prevent or diffuse disruptive situations.- Perform rescue functions during emergencies, including administering emergency medical aid.
