ResponsibilitiesAccurately interpret and apply information from work orders, job orders, specifications, blueprints or drawingsIdentify, recognize and demonstrate safe usage of hand tools and power tools appropriate for the jobRecognize various materials used in the craft and demonstrate a working knowledge of appropriate material handling techniquesSelect and safely use appropriate equipment for the job which may include (but not limited to) graders, front-end loaders, bulldozers, manlifts, fork lifts, and company trucksDemonstrate knowledge and skills in safe rigging practicesIdentify, explain and perform crane signalsDemonstrate ability to perform equipment inspections and daily reporting procedures consistent with the company's and manufacturer's requirementsDemonstrate ability to accurately read load chartsIdentify functions, operating characteristics and limitation of various pieces of heavy equipmentDemonstrate ability to recognize and effectively communicate machinery maintenance problemsDemonstrate knowledge and skills in appropriate procedures required when performing activities near utility linesDemonstrate ability to assure adequate site preparation for various types of equipment and tasksDemonstrate ability to consistently obtain correct load weight and load placement information prior to performing any lifts or activitiesDemonstrate ability to safely move equipment from one location to anotherDemonstrate appropriate procedures in shutting down and securing equipment when it is unattendedIdentify and recognize the functions of control of various types of heavy equipmentDemonstrate knowledge and skills in appropriate procedures necessary when performing earth work in the presence of underground linesDemonstrate knowledge and skills in identifying various soil typesDemonstrate knowledge and skills in correct excavation procedures
