Summary
In this role, you will have the opportunity to interact with agents, address inquiries about our innovative products and services, and ensure the swift resolution of any concerns. As an Underwriter, you will play a vital role in processing new business applications, evaluating eligibility based on company guidelines, and managing policy change requests for both new and existing clients.
Essential Job Functions
* Mastery of Senior Underwriting Assistant functions with progression to the following:* Review insurance applications for compliance and adherence* Assess wind loss exposures and determine underwriting alternatives* Contact field representatives to obtain further information* Explain underwriting policies and procedures* Screen applicants based on set criteria* Utilize knowledge of automated systems to develop information for new policies* Decide whether to offer insurance* Determine appropriate premiums and amounts of coverage
* Underwriting new business, reviewing endorsements, policy changes, cancellation requests, and inspections* Accept, modify, or reject risks based on analysis, experience, and judgment for new business and renewal policies* Identify and analyze loss experience, investigative reports, claims activity, file information, and nature of risks in order to reach sound conclusions* Ability to process all policy forms in all states* Participate in projects/assignments as requested* Rely on experience and judgment* Ability to accomplish daily goals* Adhere to policies and procedures of employee handbook* Perform other duties as assigned
Required Knowledge, Skills & Ability
* Thorough knowledge of UPCIC manuals, policies, and procedures* Thorough industry knowledge* Ability to utilize available resources* Proficient in processing all business units* Organizational, prioritization, and multitasking skills* Critical and analytical thinking* Versatility - skilled in more than one area* Positive work record and evaluations* Exemplary attendance record* Reading, writing, typing and computing skills necessary to do the job* Possesses creativity and latitude* Strong interpersonal skills* Demonstrates teamwork and ability to develop productive relationships with peers and management.* Ability to communicate - listening, written, and verbal skills* Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously* Maintain quality control standards while maintaining production standards by Company's definition* Must possess Florida Insurance Licensure: 20-44 or 2-20
