Senior Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer (CSO)
of the AdventHealth Central Florida Division. The CSO works with senior leadership of the Central Florida Division (CFD) to develop the vision and strategic agenda for research to be performed at AdventHealth. The CSO works with the CFD Chief Clinical Officer to embed research in graduate medical education programs and develop a research model that fosters the strategic growth of research across the division. The CSO will oversee and guide research efforts which advance the mission of care, directing energy and resources towards areas with the potential for high-impact results, increased efficiency, and enhanced externally funded research.The Ideal CandidateThe successful candidate will be an innovative and collaborative research leader who is driven by the mission of providing whole-person care – body, mind, and spirit – to all people within a compassionate, patient-focused environment. The CSO will have experience leading an externally funded program of research with sustained history of support from NIH, industry, foundation, or other sources. While the research goals of the CFD are not limited to specific specialties, ideally this leader will have research credibility in key therapeutic areas such as oncology, neuroscience, cardiovascular/thoracic, transplant, and/or health outcomes. An MD, DO, or MD/PhD is required.The OrganizationAdventHealth’s Central Florida Division
conducts ongoing health care research studies with the goal of discovering new treatments, diagnostic methods, and preventive care for some of the most serious diseases. The scientific capabilities of this division span all facets of research including therapeutic clinical trials (Phase I, II, III pharma and medical device), translational studies, population health, health economics, implementation science and more.The CSO will be responsible for driving research strategy for the Central Florida Division, which consists of 200 active principal investigators across 11 therapeutically aligned teams. The division encompasses more than 20 hospitals and emergency departments in the seven counties in and surrounding metro Orlando, including the company flagship quaternary level-care medical center, AdventHealth Orlando.The RegionOrlando, Florida is a vibrant and culturally diverse community that boasts excellent public and private schools, as well as several colleges and universities. With its pleasant year-round climate, Orlando offers abundant outdoor activities and is just an hour away from some of the Southeast’s most picturesque beaches.
