Responsibilities

Ascension Medical Group is seeking an additional Advanced Practice Provider with 1+ years of experience with a background in cardiology, critical care or cardiac surgery to join our Advanced Heart Failure APP team. Incoming APP's will be involved with the pre and post-op management of the VAD, Transplant & ECMO patients. The APPs on this team are part of a collaborative team model of care consisting of Attending physicians and a team of NP/PAs who provide care for inpatient Heart Transplant, VAD & ECMO patients.

  • 1+ years experience in cardiology, critical care or cardiac surgery preferred.
  • Schedule: 3 - 12-hour shifts per week 7a-7p. Rotated amonga team of 4 APP's.
  • Shared weekend and holiday 7a-7p coverage among4 APPs. (Average 1 weekend a month)
  • Potential for some scheduling flexibility

Essential functions:

  • Evaluates and treats Heart Transplant and LVAD patients in the immediate pre and post-operative setting and serves as the primary admitting service.
  • Manages acute and chronic co-morbidities.
  • Obtains complete histories and performs pertinent physical exams with assessment of normal and abnormal findings.
  • Performs or requests and evaluates diagnostic studies.
  • Administers, orders, furnishes and/or prescribes medications.
  • Facilitates the coordination of inpatient and outpatient care and services.
  • Works closely with a multi-disciplinary team to coordinate patient throughput and discharge planning.
  • Availability for participation with procedural involvement if desired by the applicant upon matriculation.

Requirements

Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Required Credential(s):
BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
One or more of the following:
Physician Assistant credentialed from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Physician Assistant credentialed from the Indiana Physician Assistant Committee obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
Preferred Credential(s):
Advanced Life Support. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
Orthopedic Physician Assistant.

Education:
Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program.

Master's degree preferred.

Work Experience:
1 year of experience preferred.
