About Tanglewood

In 1940, the Berkshire Music Center (now the Tanglewood Music Center) began its operations. Home to the famous Boston Symphony Orchestra, and the site of one of the world's best-known music festivals, Tanglewood hosts the Festival of Contemporary Music, along with many other events including concerts of various genres from jazz to pop. Today, Tanglewood annually draws over 350,000 visitors. Each season offers not only a vast quantity of music, but also a vast range of musical forms and styles, all of it presented with a regard for artistic excellence that makes the festival unique.

About the Role

Provide patrons with a positive first impression of Tanglewood by offering superior, individualized, and efficient service.

Job Responsibilities

Greet all guests upon entering the Tanglewood grounds. Assist patrons in an orderly fashion, keeping control of crowds and ensuring patron safety by working with sheriffs, security and other Tanglewood staff.Scan guest's tickets using electronic scanner. Contact the supervisor if an issue with a patron ticket arises, so this can be addressed by the box office.Provide superior customer service to patrons by quickly addressing and answering questions regarding Tanglewood grounds, programs and policies. If a customer complaint or issue arises try to resolve customer issue in a calm manner. If unable to do so contact supervisor or appropriate manager.In the event of an emergency/evacuation, gate attendants should remain calm and direct guests to the designated areas of safety.Required Education and Experience

The successful candidate will have...

Demonstrate strong customer service skills.Must be able to stay calm in stressful, fast-paced situations.Experience dealing effectively with conflict a must.Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions for extended periods to include wet, humid, and extreme heat.Ability to stand for long periods of time.Good communication skills.Frequent walkingAttendants are required to wear the white Gate Attendant polo shirt that is provided by the BSO.
