World-class designer and manufacturer in Union County is seeking a Machinist/Operator. They custom manufacture precision fluid controls, motion controls, and turnkey systems for space, aircraft, nuclear, and scientific/industrial clients. Company is seeking Operators and Machinists for their 1st and 2nd shifts currently.
JOB SUMMARY
Under immediate supervision, working from blueprints, sketches, verbal and/or written specifications, operates manual or numerically controlled machine tools to perform standard sequences of operations. Sets-up manual machines where speeds feeds and sequence of tooling operations are ordinarily prescribed.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
* Sets-up manual machines where speeds feeds and sequence of tooling operations are ordinarily prescribed.* Operates numerically controlled machines where programs are proved.* Sets up and operates other manual machines in the work area and maintains tolerances by adjusting as necessary.* Is responsible for inspecting the work to ensure it meets basic quality requirements.* Can perform detailed sub-assembly functions for certain products.* Operates automatic welding equipment.* Uses required shop measuring devices.* Sharpens drill tools on grinding wheel as necessary.* Maintains good housekeeping in work area.* May be required to perform other duties as directed by supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS* 0-5 years" experience as a general machine shop operator, and demonstrated skills.* Familiar with Machine Shop procedures, special processes and tooling.
REQUISITE SKILLS REQUIRED* Demonstrated effective verbal and written communication skills.* All work is performed under the minimum supervision of the Manager and/or Supervisor, as required.
EQUIPIMENT/MACHINERY USED* Knowledge of Machining or Manufacturing operations is beneficial.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS* Lifting up to 50lbs regularly, pushing, pulling, standing for long periods of time, manual dexterity, visual acuity, and typing.

Determines proper tooling and sequence of operations, and skillfully uses all machinists" hand tools and machine shop measuring equipment in order to produce work to specifications. Must be able to make complicated set-ups and operate available machine tools; determine operational sequences, proper jigs, fixtures and design of tool to be used.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1. Must be able to make complicated set-ups and operate available machine tools; determine operational sequences, proper jigs, fixtures and design of tools to be used.2. Must be able to skillfully use all machinist's hand tools and measuring instruments.3. Must be familiar with the machining of most materials.4. Must be able to use advanced shop math, including trigonometry.5. Moves parts to and from the work area.6. Maintains good housekeeping in the work area.7. Meets all safety requirements in the machine shop and follows all company policies.8. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by supervision.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS* Requires a High school diploma or equivalent education* Requires the completion of an apprenticeship program or similar on the job experience of approximately four years or at least five years experience as a machinist.* Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIIES REQUIRED1. Ability to operate standard and specialized equipment to produce prototype and/or production parts2. Ability to perform standard shop computations, using technical math, geometry and trigonometry.3. In-depth knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances in both standard and metric systems4. Candidate must have 'Team' like mentality and be willing to work with a group
EQUIPIMENT/MACHINERY USED1. Proficient use of 'Bridgeport' type milling machines2. Proficient use of 'Hardinge' type tool room precision lathes as well as engine lathes3. Proficient use of tool and surface grinders4. Proficient use of all shop inspection equipment, including but not limited to, CMM, comparator, digital height gages, micrometers, etc.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS1. Moderate physical activity.2. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 50 pounds and pushing, pulling or standing and walking for extended periods of time.
