Position:

Under the supervision of the Recreation Supervisor, the lifeguard position will observe swimmers, protect life, prevent accidents, enforce regulations and do related work as required.Only qualified applicants will be called in for an "in-water skills test" and, upon successful completion, will be scheduled for an oral interview.

The in-water skills test includes:

5-minute treading water while holding a 10lb brick100-meter swim (1:40 minutes or less)Passive submerged victim rescue (14ft depth) with removalAdult CPRSwim 25 yards, retrieve a 10lb brick, swim 25 yards, and exit the poolLifeguard Academy:If you are interested in becoming a Lifeguard but lack the required certification, consider participating in one of our academies: Lifeguard Academy

Key Responsibilities

Observe the activities of swimmers in and around a public pool to assure that policies, rules, and regulations are observed, and hazards are eliminated or minimizedMaintain group and individual disciplineRescue persons in danger and provide first aid as necessaryGive accurate information about aquatic facilities and programs. Assist in conducting special events and in the maintenance operation of aquatic facilitiesOther duties as assignedQualifications

Possess current certificates in the following:

CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer (CPR-FPR)Lifeguard TrainingKnowledge of:

Principles and techniques of preventive lifeguarding, water rescues, first aid, and CPRAbility To:

Earn Tittle 22 Certificate within one year of being hired (we offer this training onsite)Swim with proficiency and enduranceAnalyze situations and adopt a quick, effective course of actionMaintain constant observation of an assigned area to identify signs of dangerDeal effectively and tactfully with the public, and work cooperatively with othersExperience & Education

Entry Level:

Any combination that provides the required knowledge and abilities is qualifyingHighly Desirable:

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
