Accounting is dedicated to providing accurate and timely financial data to assist in the management and safe guarding of company assets, maintaining compliance with GAAP and all regulatory filings established by State and Federal agencies, and providing supportive services that meet the needs of Cambridge Systematics. Accounting offers services to our customers with a focus on delivering exceptional customer service and providing reliable resources to aid CS in meeting all goals. The Project Accountant supports the Project Accounting and Reporting team within the Accounting Department. The Project Accounting and Reporting team is the essential strategic link between the Accounting Department, project managers and the clients. The Project Accountant is primarily responsible for, invoicing, management of unbilled costs, and close out. This position reports directly to the Accounting Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Project Accounting and Reporting

•Produces project draft invoice and communicate with Project Manager to gain approval •Assemble final invoice in compliance with client policies and requirements •Perform project financial analysis for project managers as needed •Prepare project close out documents as required by contract requirements

Billed and Unbilled Analysis

•Management of unbilled costs monthly for all projects assigned including monthly analysis, reporting, and resolution of unbillable costs •Management of billed costs including collections activities and monthly status reporting to management •Reconcile discrepancies between invoice and client payment

Fiduciary Responsibility

•Continuous focus on the safeguarding of company assets •Maintains confidentiality with all financial documents and sensitive company and employee information •Maintains proper filing and documentation with strong attention to detail •Accountable for knowledge of and compliance with GAAP and company accounting policy •Maintain and adhere to internal control structure

Position Requirements

0-2 years of applicable experience*This position requires an employee to work a few days per week in-person at either our Medford, MA office, or our Chicago, IL office.Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related fieldProficient in ExcelAbility to work independently as well as in a team environmentExceptional organizational and prioritization skills with a high attention to detailStrong time management and communication skills and ability to meet deadlines
