Assists with all activities associated with running the assigned machinery including setup, cleanup, cross training and continuous improvements to operations. The Production Worker works within a team to assist in operating assigned machinery in a safe, efficient and reliable manner. The position holder will follow all pertinent ISO 9001 procedures & processes as well as Group Health & Safety standards and rules. This will be for various shifts, to be determined.
Primary Duties
Assist machine operators where neededPerforms all product-handling activities (i.e., counting, packing, sealing, labelling, palletizing).Reads specification to gather data for Load Tags as per spec cardsMonitor equipment during operations to ensure tolerances are being maintainedPerform daily maintenance duties such as cleaning machinery to remove paper dustSet up, operate, prepare and assist in make-ready or tend machines cuts paper and paper boardIn charge of starting up machines to verify setups, and make any necessary adjustmentsPlace dunnage on pallets and ensure pallet is presentableAssists with manual shrink wrapping of palletsMaintain at all times the machine at expected housekeeping standardsFollow all safety rules and proceduresAssist in troubleshooting when operating issue on machine occurAssist other departments and/or areas as requested by management or supervisorParticipates in any extra curriculum (training & development) activity deemed necessary by managementTrain other colleagues to pass on knowledge & expertiseLearn relevant local and company requirements, rules and procedures. Strictly follows rules and guidelines and always uses the right procedure for the job. Promptly reports incidents, near-misses, and unsafe conditions or processes. SKNA employees regardless of level, position or tenure are responsible for upholding the safety standards regulations and policies.Starts assembly and production machinery at beginning of shiftMay be assigned to other projects and dutiesJob Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent; up to one year (1) related experience or training in the corrugated industry; or equivalent combination of education and experienceBasic computer skills for data entryMust be able to read, write and speak in EnglishGood interpersonal & communication skillsHighly organized, detail orientated and self-motivated individual (proactive attitude)Ability to work in fast-paced environment, learn quickly and follow established processesGood mathematical skills
Ability to understand basic algebra, able to calculate figures and amounts such as proportions, percentages, volume etc. (add and subtract numbers, multiply and divide by 10's and 100's...)
Ability to define problems, collect data/facts (observing, receiving, and otherwise obtaining information from all relevant sources) and draw reasonable conclusionsAbility to deal with various situationsAbility to work independently as well as part of a teamHave several years of experience in a similar jobExcellent interpersonal communication skills
