Overview:

This position is a 1.0 FTE (80 hours per 2 week pay period). This position works 8 hour day/evening shift with as needed weekendsThe University of Minnesota Medical Center is looking for Nursing Station Technicians to join our perianesthesia team. Candidates with experience may be brought in at a higher rate of pay.Responsibilities/Job Description:About the Job

The Nursing Station Technician is a hybrid position consisting of both Nursing Assistant and Health Unit Coordinator roles to deliver direct patient care and administrative duties.In this role, you will work under the direct supervision of a professional nurse to demonstrate excellent customer service, teamwork and communication skills with patients, families, and the healthcare team on a fasted paced unit. Other job duties include:Patient care such as personal hygiene, vitals, daily activities, repositioning, transporting, and feedingMaintaining unit desk area functions such as answering phones, processing admissions, discharging and transferring forms, transcribing orders, assembling patient charts and ordering testsSetting up and maintaining patient roomsOrdering and stocking of supplies

Qualifications:License/Certification/Registration

Minimum Qualifications:Basic Life Support (BLS for Healthcare Providers) certification required. Ontrack participants much be able to obtain Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification upon completion of the OnTrack program.And one of the following:

Successful completion of Fairviews OnTrack Nursing Assistant training program or another Fairview sponsored Nursing Assistant program.Or

Six months of recent direct care experience in a long term, home care or acute care setting. (Appropriate roles may include, Nursing Assistant, PCA, Resident Assistant or Emergency Room Technician)Or

Current enrollment in an LPN, RN or Nurse Practitioner program, and completion of one (1) semester of clinical rotation within the programOr

Current certification on the Minnesota Nursing Assistant Registry upon hire. This requirement does not need to be maintained throughout employment and is not required if subsequently transferring into another Nursing Assistant or Nursing Station Tech or Nursing Station Attendant position.Preferred Qualifications:Previous experience as a Health Unit Coordinator, Nursing Assistant, or other related experienceKeywords: NST / NA / HUC, Nursing Assistant, patient care
