Department SummaryThe Finance department supports Facilities Management and works in consultation with the Assistant Vice Chancellor and Directors heading up each operating unit to monitor finances, control deviations, anticipate financial trends and initiate proactive responses. The department’s input is integral in strategic planning, financial planning and analysis, risk management and budgeting for the Facilities Management division. Finance has responsibility for overseeing over $200 million of expenditures. The annual fiscal responsibility breaks down to: facilities management, energy services, AVC office (Facilities Administration), space and other funds with a division FTE of approximately 1,000. The department has responsibility for providing accounting and finance services to the employees of Facilities Management to include payroll services. In addition to departmental functions, the Finance department is the primary financial liaison with the Administrative Vice Chancellor’s office and the Academic Planning and Budget office.

Qualifications8 years Experience in financial management (Required)10 years Experience in management of staff, including represented employees. (Preferred)Demonstrated ability to oversee the management and coordination of all fiscal reporting activities for the organization including organizational revenue/expense and balance sheet reports, reports to funding agencies, development and monitoring of organizational and contract/grant budgets. (Required)Demonstrated ability to direct subordinate Financial Managers in the development, submission and approval of the annual operating budgets and recharge rate proposals and in the development and reporting of monthly financial performance of each unit and any ad hoc financial reporting that may be required. (Required)Ability to work with Executive management and Audit components to ensure financial dealings are within the law and within university policy. Knowledge of laws, regulation and rules governing financial practices in a state and non-state funded environment. (Required)Ability to recognize and be responsive to the needs of clients, funding sources, and university and departmental goals. (Required)Ability to communicate best practices and maintain managerial and financial controls to assure sound management practices and compliance with all University and State policies and regulations. Ability to direct the response to and compliance with all audits and financial control issues. (Required)Ability to provide consultation to Executive management and directors on the impact changes or initiatives have on the finance and operations of the operating units (Required)Ability to oversee the maintenance of the inventory of all fixed assets, including assets purchased with government funds assuring all are in accordance with federal and state regulations. (Required)Ability to develop a mission continuity plan for an organizational response to the impact of an emergency or interruption to normal operations for a continued minimum acceptable level of service during and in the immediate aftermath of such an event. (Required)Ability to manage several funds and tracking of workforce numbers. (Required)Ability to incorporate trends and information system upgrades to enhance goal success and project completion. (Required)

Education, Licenses, Certifications & Personal AffiliationsMaster's Degree MBA or Masters of Finance or Advanced degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training (Required)
