The Manager, Accounting performs and reviews complex statistical financial analysis that often has significant impact/implications on the financial direction and the success of the business. Key responsibilities include oversight of the monthly financial reporting, financial audit support, manage regulatory filings and implement and maintain appropriate internal controls. The Manager, Accounting is responsible for coaching and prioritizing the work of the team members. The position also serves as an information source for other analysts in the department and other customers at Medica.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent working experience; plus a minimum of 7 years of professional experience in AccountingLeadership experience requiredKey Accountabilities:
Financial Close ProcessProvide oversight of the monthly financial activity for accuracy and timeliness.This includes the review of journal entries for administrative expenses and appropriate accruals. Identify and convey variances to Corporate and segment leadership.
Audit SupportSupport the annual financial audit in addition to other audits by regulators such as CMS, DHS, etc.
Regulatory FilingsProvide and provide input for completion of necessary regulatory filings including the quarterly NAIC filings, cost report, etc.
Internal ControlsImplement and maintain internal controls to mitigate financial and operational risks.
Skills and Abilities:
Proficient in Microsoft ExcelDemonstrated strong written, verbal, interpersonal and communication skillsGreat Plains Systems experience preferredStrong leadership and team management abilitiesDemonstrated ability to manage diverse personalities and create a cohesive team environmentExperience working in a fast-paced environmentAbility to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
This position is a Hub role, which requires an employee to occasionally come onsite to the designated office - Minnetonka, MN or Madison, WI - for applicable heads-up work. Frequency is determined by business need as decided by leadership.
The full salary range for this position is $85,000 - $145,700. Annual salary range placement will depend on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, education, work experience, applicable certifications and/or licensure, the position's scope and responsibility, internal pay equity and external market salary data. In addition to base compensation, this position may be eligible for incentive plan compensation in addition to base salary.
