Infection Control Practitioner

A 300-bed Los Angeles Area Medical Center is seeking an Infection Preventionist to join their world-class healthcare organization.Utilizing epidemiological methods, the Infection Preventionist will report directly to the Director of Quality and Patient Safety and will collaborate with 4 additional infection preventionists.The Infection Preventionist will coordinate infection surveillance, education, administrative, and control measures to assure that the transmission risks and complications of infections and infectious diseases are minimized to medical center clients, personnel, and visitors.In this role, the Infection Preventionist will manage and maintain responsibilities including statistician, educator, consultant, improvement coordinator, and evaluator of practice. The Infection Preventionist will be conversant with the infection hazards of all patient care services in order to recommend and evaluate the effect of prevention strategies.With the emphasis on improvement and publicly reported data, the Infection Preventionist will possess a heightened ability to provide statistical analysis of data, be knowledgeable regarding NHSN data management, and evaluate and implement prevention strategies. The Infection Preventionist must hold a Certification in Infection Control (CIC) and a degree in nursing, epidemiology, microbiology, or public health.The Medical Center is part of a large and stable healthcare organization and is prepared to offer a generous salary, comprehensive benefits, and an excellent retirement package.
