IP Adult PsychiatristPosition Summary:LifeBridge Health(LBH) Department of Psychiatry located in Baltimore, Maryland is seeking a full-time Psychiatrist to join their faculty. LifeBridge Health is a nonprofit healthcare system formed in 1998 and currently operates several medical institutions in and around Baltimore, Maryland, including Sinai Hospital of Baltimore; Northwest Hospital; Carroll Hospital Center; Grace Medical Center and Levindale Hebrew Geriatric Center and Hospital. The system is currently licensed for 1,947 beds, and earns approximately $2 billion in net revenues. There are an estimated 2,900 physicians on the medical staff and over 13,000 employees. In 2022 LifeBridge Health partnered with The George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington, DC to establish a regional medical campus on site which provides education and training to 3rd and 4th year medical students.This position is a dual academic-clinical role which involves providing direct patient care on the inpatient psychiatric units along with teaching responsibilities. The Physician will provide psychiatric evaluations, assessments and treatments to adult patients admitted to inpatient care in an inter-disciplinary manner with other clinical disciplines including advanced practice providers. Faculty also receive an academic appointment through The GWU School of Medicine, Washington, DC.Overview:The LBH adult inpatient psychiatric service is spread across three sites (Sinai Hospital, Northwest Hospital and Carroll Medical Center) and has a licensed bed capacity of 115 beds.Psychiatrists are assigned to one of the locations as their primary site but may occasionally be required to provide clinical care at other locations depending on coverage needs.The Department of Psychiatry seeks a candidate for Sinai Hospital as the primary site currently. The expected schedule is M-F with a patient census for direct care at 10 to 12 adult inpatients.The Physician will also be expected to provide support to advanced practice practitioners (NPs) in conducting the involuntary administrative hearings and clinical review panels as per the MD COMAR regulations. NPs operate as independently licensed practioners in the State of Maryland.The inpatient service is supported by a Medical Director who is involved in providing direct patient care, overseeing day to day operations amongst other responsibilities and is a resource for the Psychiatrist to seek clinical guidance. There are supports available in the form of peer supervision with the Chair and other departmental leadership as needed.After-hours call coverage is provided by both APPs & MDs with additional compensation based on a call schedule which is formulated in advance. All inpatient clinicians are required to participate in the call coverage and pool.Essential Functions:Provide direct care for a specific number of patients on the units, including appropriate and timely documentation.Complete admission assessment for patients within 24 hours of inpatient admission and reassess patients per outlined in COMAR regulations. Candidate may also be responsible for providing psychiatric consultations for patients in the emergency department and on the medical floors, as needed based on coverage.Participate in treatment plan meetings and ensure timely documentation consistent with policy.Work with all teams to monitor patient's duration of hospitalization.Participate in LifeBridge Health Behavioral Health service line and other institutional meetings.Academic Responsibilities:Faculty receive a full-time academic appointment with The GWU School of Medicine at the rank based on their experience and resume per standards set by the SOM.Medical students in their 3rd year rotate through Psychiatry as one of their core-clerkships and faculty are responsible to provide bedside teaching and supervision. They are involved in their grading process and mentoring students for any scholarly interests. Faculty are also expected to teach didactics based on their area of expertise as per a set schedule.Faculty development resources are available through the school of medicine to aid in implementing best practices around teaching and career advancement.Faculty are expected to attend periodic school meetings.Level of Supervision Required:Works independentlyRequirement: BE-BC Psychiatrist in the State of Maryland at the time of appointment.
