The Security Specialist at Volunteers of America (VOA) plays a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of our programs. If you're dedicated to positively impacting your community and possess strong interpersonal skills, we want to hear from you!

Position Overview:

As a Security Specialist, you will be the primary point of contact for security services at VOA locations. Your responsibilities will include maintaining the safety of residents, shelter guests, and staff through effective communication, documentation, and incident response. This role requires stationary dispatch duties and mobile patrols, depending on the department's needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure safety and security for all residents and staff at assigned VOA locations.Develop and maintain knowledge of property guidelines, physical layouts, and local law enforcement resources.Conduct regular interior and exterior patrols, monitor security cameras, and report any suspicious activities.Document incidents and maintain clear communication with necessary parties.Provide crowd control and adhere to policy regarding trespassing.Remain alert and available throughout your shift, including overnight.Participate in training and team meetings to enhance security practices.Schedule:

Full-time - 4 X 10 ScheduleNight Shift (5:00 PM - 3:00 AM) based on availability and program needs.Some holiday shifts may be required.Benefits for Full-Time Employees:

Required:

High School Diploma or GEDMinimum 2 years of security or related experience, especially with at-risk populationsValid Driver's License and reliable transportationAbility to pass a Comprehensive Criminal History Background CheckPreferred:

Experience in social work or crisis interventionTraining in motivational interviewing and verbal de-escalationFamiliarity with Fair Housing, Harm Reduction, and Housing First principles
