The Embedded Systems Engineer III will work with a small state-of-the-art R&D team in Boise to bring new ideas to life that will help transform the material handling industry. They will utilize the latest technologies to integrate robotics into material handling systems for complex applications. This includes R&D and prototype development to successfully bring new products to market. The process involves understanding the customer's goals and objectives and developing engineered solutions to meet these goals.
Job Functions:Collaborate with Electrical, Mechanical and Software Engineering teams to come up with innovating new ideas and new technologiesDesign architectures and schematics for successful embedded systems and robotics projects with regards to system functionality, customer satisfaction, schedule, time, and budgetWork with layout engineer to design PCB layoutsWork with contract manufacturers to produce PCBs for prototype and/or production quantitiesDetail and perform PCB testing to ensure hardware meets design requirementsMentor junior engineers in the PCB design processWilling to take on robotic system electrical design challengesSpecify and select parts, evaluate their operation, and integrate them into the hardware designDocument functional specifications to support embedded systems projectsProvide input on schedule and plan that maintain JIRA project while communicating it with managersRemain up to date on all industry trends and new research in order help train and develop team membersCross collaboration outside of discipline to come up with innovating new ideas and new technologiesIntroduce and present new technology concepts to the teamTrack projects and report progress and issues to the engineering managerAssist in resolving engineering issues as they arise by working closely with the engineering team, vendors, and the shopEnsure we meet and exceed our customer's expectations through superior design and implementationComplete all administrative tasks/paperwork in timely mannerAbility to prioritize individual tasks on your own based while understanding project priorities from a macro levelAttend training and become certified in applicable controls technologies or programsSuperior Qualifications:
Knowledge of microcontrollers, PLCs, industrial robots, safety rated equipment, encoders, networking, circuits, AC/DC motors and motor controllers, etc.Understanding of automated equipment and systems, panel design, firmware design, regulatory practices and schematicsSome panel design experience, hands on and mechanical capabilities, controls project management experienceExperience with machine vision and material handling a plusTravel Requirements:
25% overnight travel (Travel expenses paid by Bastian Solutions)Preferred Skills and Required Qualifications

5-8 years' experience in a firmware engineer or embedded systems engineer position or equivalent positionMinimum of a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science/Engineering, or related fieldPCB schematic and layout design experience through Altium or related softwareSerial digital communication knowledge (UART, I2C, CAN, SPI, USB)Test equipment (Oscilloscope, Multimeter, signal analyzers)Experience in C/C++, Python, and other common development languagesReal-Time Operating System (RTOS)Experience driving agile process for project pacingNeed demonstrated project management and time tracking managementDriving the team to learn and research new projects and technologyBackground in a collaborative role with multiple disciplinesAbility to write thorough documentation for new software and processesAbility to mentor and guide people to meet their goalsAptitude for hands on electrical and mechanical troubleshootingMust be eligible to work within the US without sponsorshipTo learn more about us, click the following link
