Position Summary

The Accounting Manager works closely with the Chief Financial Officer and financial services staff of Wesley Woods Senior Living to provide oversight and financial management of the accounting department. This entails supervising, directing and sometimes performing tasks in the Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Accounting, Financial Reporting, Treasury, Payroll and Financial Systems support areas.

Key Responsibilities

Provide detailed oversight of the monthly financial statement closing process; conduct financial analysis to interpret trends; supervise the adjusting entry process; monitor, guide and coach the financial services staff, as well as the community administrators, to expand their knowledge of the financial statement process; establish and implement procedures to improve systems.Supervise and grow the financial services staff, ensuring that employees understand their role and performance expectations.Coordinate with the Chief Financial Officer in preparation of monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). Provide support to the Chief Financial Officer in Board reporting and analysis, as needed.Manage the application and collection of quarterly grant requests from the Department of Housing and Urban Development, as well as the annual grant submission process.Oversee the Wesley Woods Senior Living investment portfolio, which includes obtaining, reviewing and accounting for monthly results from all Fund managers.Lead the annual budgeting and long-term financial planning processes, collaborating closely with community administrators to ensure alignment with company goals and objectives.Perform monthly reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts, including oversight of all bank account reconciliations.Provide coordination, leadership and direction for internal and external audit processes. Review and implement recommendations from external and internal audit committees.Serve as project leader for special financial projects that arise, including financial systems implementation and/or upgrade projects, feasibility studies, Etc.Provide direction and assistance as directed by Chief Financial Officer in implementing procedure/workflow improvements in the financial services area, including monthly financial report production procedures, development of analytical tools, etc.Other duties as assigned.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION :Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.Ability to perform duties and responsibilities promptly and consistently with little direct supervision in planning and organizing their work.Ability to understand overall organization structure, organization interrelationships, and reporting requirements.Ability to judge the appropriate action in response to changes, circumstances or problems.Ability to objectively appraise and analyze the qualifications and performance of others as well as the ability to plan and direct their activities.Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in accounting, MBA and/or CPA desired.Experience in Microsoft Business Central required.Direct experience managing a financial services team.Minimum five years finance experience in health care environment desired.Previous experience completing the general ledger closing process.Proficient in use of Microsoft suite of products.Strong financial analytical skills required.Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work various levels of management.Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to make presentations to executive leadership.

Physical Demands

Mainly work indoors in an office environment. May travel frequently to visit other communities. Longer periods of work are typical at certain times of the year, such as at the end of the budget year.
