On-Board Engineering is hiring a Piping and Process Engineer in Richmond, VA!

OverviewUnder general supervision, will independently apply mechanical and piping knowledge base to generate issued for construction design packages and assist in execution of capital projects. Makes decisions on engineering problems and methods and represents the organization in project meetings to resolve important questions with key engineers.

This position is in Richmond, VA. Work will be performed full time on site.

Responsibilities

Responsible for study, design, specification, and services related to piping systems and process equipment including pressure vessels, process tanks, heat exchangers, pumps, etc.Responsible for design and specification of piping systems, utility and equipment ties-ins, pipe supports for heavy industrial facilities.Consulted on design, specification, selection, and services relating to, pipe standards, manual valves, and inline piping equipmentWork from P&ID's, client specifications, and vendor data to complete scopes of work and issue for construction packagesReview and check design packages including P&IDs, general arrangements, line lists, isometrics, pipe supports, and installation detailsAssist in conducting piping and mechanical reviews of all project packages prior to IFC to ensure that quality procedures are followedReview project design estimates and scopes of work for new and proposed projectsRequired to perform necessary field work, taking measurements, locating tie-ins, as-building existing systems, developing detailed scopes.Ensures that completed project scope is safe to operate, functional, maintainable, and that all applicable codes have been followedMust interface with other engineering and design disciplines

Requirements

BS in Engineering, Mechanical or Chemical discipline preferredMinimum 5 years of experience in an industrial / manufacturing settingExperience in working with and mentoring designers/engineering team membersExperience in communicating job packages/projects with construction and plant personnel.Experience utilizing vendor equipment specifications and reading vendor manuals.Experience in developing scopes of work, task analysis, material list and project schedulesPreferred experience with CAD software platforms

Physical Requirements

Work is located at a chemical plant and requires exposure to ambient temperature extremesWork will require using and wearing personal protective equipment such as fire-retardant clothing, hearing and eye protection, hard hat, and steel-toed bootsMust be able to complete necessary field work in process areas around the plant site
