Job Details:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Accountant to join our team in the Engineering industry. This role is a permanent position and provides a great opportunity for the right candidate to play a pivotal role in our financial management. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining financial reports, records, and general ledgers, as well as preparing and analyzing budgets and performing general bookkeeping. The Senior Accountant will also have a hand in the creation of detailed financial business plans and forecasts to drive our business forward. You will report directly to the Finance Manager and work closely with our finance team to achieve financial objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare financial statements and analysis for the whole of the company.
  • Manage all aspects of day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting processes including but not limited to: A/P, A/R, payroll, journal entries, and bank reconciliation in compliance with financial policies and procedures.
  • Perform month-end closing activities, including preparation of various journal entries, variance analysis, audit schedules and distribution of cost center reports.
  • Conduct regular ledger maintenance.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform treasury functions such as managing daily cash flow.
  • Develop and maintain internal control and effective accounting system and policies for the set-up of external financial reports.
  • Adhere to federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation, and maintaining compliance.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain financial controls and guidelines.
  • Achieve budget objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective actions.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Certified Public Accountant or Certified Management Accountant designation preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior accounting role.
  • Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Proficiency with accounting software, word processing, and spreadsheets.
  • Solid knowledge of financial analysis and forecasting.
  • An analytical mind with strong attention to detail.
  • Exceptional time management and verbal and written communication skills.
  • Firm grasp on math concepts and financial data.
  • Ability to present complex financial information in a clear and concise way.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with a commitment to develop and lead a team.
  • Experience in the Engineering industry is an advantage.
  • Strong ethical behavior with a commitment to safeguard the company’s financial assets and integrity.
