is seeking a
Data Scientist
to join our team in support of a new contract at the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). This position will be performed remotely with the occasional need for an onsite meeting in the Washington D.C. area.You will help us turn raw data into business solutions, utilizing your expertise in data science and machine learning to develop, evaluate, and operationalize data models. This role involves analyzing complex data sets to identify and address potential security threats, ensuring compliance with federal regulations, and enhancing the organization's overall cybersecurity posture.Responsibilities:The ideal candidate will have a strong background in statistics, machine learning, data quality, and data analysis, along with excellent communication skills.Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify large datasets trends, patterns, and outliers.Generate ETL code to produce a model-ready data source that has extracted data from production datasets, transformed data to resolve known data quality issues, and prepared and blended datasets.Select and develop appropriate modelling techniques.Evaluate the effectiveness of model results.Operationalize the model by providing the approved data science model, derived data sources, and user interface.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into data science solutions.Clean, preprocess, and analyze data to uncover actionable insights and support decision-making processes.Stay up to date with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and related technologies.Create and maintain documentation for data science processes and models.Communicate findings and insights effectively to technical and non-technical audiences.Qualifications:Minimum of 7 years of related experience as a Data Scientist.Programming skills in languages such as Python.Solid understanding of statistical concepts and methodologies.Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex findings in a clear and understandable manner.Experience working with big data technologies like Splunk, Crowdstrike, and Zscaler.Desired Skillset:Experience working with the Federal Government.Experience with machine learning frameworks and libraries.Experience working in a Cloud environment.Ensure compliance with FDA cybersecurity requirements, particularly related to medical devices and healthcare systems.Utilize Splunk for monitoring and analyzing security-related events and incidents.Implement and manage CrowdStrike for endpoint protection and threat intelligence.Work with Zscaler to secure internet traffic and enforce security policies for remote work environments.Education:Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.3+ years of experience in data science with a focus on cybersecurity.About Copper River & The Native Village of Eyak:Owned by the Native Village of Eyak (NVE), a federally recognized Alaska Native Tribe, the Copper River Family of Companies are a collection of entities that deliver a complementary set of solutions and services to support the diverse missions and requirements of our clients.The Copper River Family of Companies has a positive, supportive, and thriving culture.
