GENERAL SUMMARY* Provides leadership in the coordination and delivery of quality compassionate patient care.* Utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, to provide, delegate, supervise and document care and teaching of patients and family.* Effectively communicates pertinent patient/family information to health care team.* Participates in finding solutions for variances from patient goals and ensures implementation of solutions.* Acts as a patient advocate while utilizing the nursing process to plan, deliver, and evaluate goal focused, individualized, safe, age specific care for all patients including those with complex pathophysiological needs and/or psychosocial needs.UNIT DESCRIPTION:Garden GPU is a 32 bed Neuro unit. We see a vast array of patients, but the majority of our population consists of spine surgeries, stroke, and seizure patients. Our nurses undergo a critical care course and receive ACLS training, typically within the first six months of employment. This critical care course equips nurses to effectively care for stroke patients admitted to the step-down unit. Additionally, it prepares them to manage patients with telemetry monitoring, which is available in all our beds. We also provide pediatric epilepsy monitoring one week each month, giving nurses the chance to work with children. On GGPU, you'll enhance your critical thinking skills, essential for delivering safe and high-quality patient care.EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED* BSN preferred.* Graduation from an accredited school of nursing.* Clinical knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to formulate effective nursing care plans.CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURES REQUIRED* Current licensure by the Michigan State Board of Nursing.Additional Information* Organization: Henry Ford West Bloomfield Hospital* Department: HFWB Garden Level GPU* Shift: Night Job* Union Code: Not Applicable
