Registered Nurse - Labor and Delivery

Job Summary:

Monitor and assess the condition of pregnant women during childbirth. Assist with labor and delivery procedures, including vaginal and cesarean births. Provide emotional support and education to mothers and families. Administer medications and pain relief as needed. Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to create birth plans. Educate mothers on postpartum care and newborn care. Assist with breastfeeding initiation and support. Document all aspects of labor and delivery for medical records. Adhere to hospital protocols and procedures for patient care and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and assess the condition of pregnant women during childbirth.

• Assist with labor and delivery procedures, including vaginal and cesarean births.

• Provide emotional support and education to mothers and families.

• Administer medications and pain relief as needed.

• Monitor fetal heart rates and maternal vital signs.

• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to create birth plans.

• Educate mothers on postpartum care and newborn care.

• Assist with breastfeeding initiation and support.

• Document all aspects of labor and delivery for medical records.

• Adhere to hospital protocols and procedures for patient care and safety.

Required Qualifications:

• 1-year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience.

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Certifications:

• Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided).

• Basic Life Support.

• Advanced Neonatal Resuscitation Program.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in nursing or related field.

• Five (5) plus years of recent experience (must have occurred within the last two (2) years) in Labor and Delivery is preferred.

• One (1) year of high-risk labor and delivery experience within the last two (2) years.

• High Risk OB experience preferred.

Certification: Basic Life Support
