Claims Adjuster

The Claims Adjuster will examine claims forms and other records to determine carrier liability, interview or correspond with claimants or other relevant parties to determine claim settlement, denial, or review, negotiate claim settlements and recommend litigation when settlement cannot be negotiated, interview or correspond with agents and claimants to correct errors or omissions and to investigate questionable claims, and prepare report of findings of investigation. Compensation starts at $12/hr depending on experience.
Essential Functions:
- Investigate and assess damage to property and create or review property damage estimates.
- Review police reports or physical property damage to determine the extent of liability.
- Analyze information gathered by investigation, and report findings and recommendations.
- Refer questionable claims to investigator or claims adjuster for investigation or settlement.
- Collect evidence to support contested claims in court.
- Calmly and efficiently collect information from claimant and agents to determine culpability and restitution.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Able to use desktop computers, laser fax machine, laser printers, scanners, multi-line telephone systems, and voice mail systems
- Microsoft Office Software: Excel, Word, Outlook, Access, Sharepoint
- Efficient data entry ability
- Good phone etiquette and customer service skills
- Problem-solving skills and an ability to listen
