Firmware Engineer Manager

to lead and grow our IO subsystems firmware team to incorporate new firmware applications develop robust, scalable firmware solutions with proven quality. A successful candidate will employ proven cross-functional leadership, software methodologies, firmware expertise, deep technical knowledge, and well-honed organizational skills to ensure on-schedule, defect-free firmware solutions. This will involve providing leading team of highly technical firmware engineers, while internally proactively managing issues and clearly communicating risks to program leadership.Intimate knowledge of software development process methodology expectedStrong analytical skills and debug methodology requiredPrevious pre-silicon or emulation experience a plusDemonstrated ability to grasp new technical concepts quicklyExcellent written and verbal communication and presentation skillsKEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage a team of engineers for architecture definition, execution for development, pre-silicon verification, and post-silicon enablementWork closely with SOC architects, silicon design, platform design, and validation to triage, debug and resolve system issuesWork closely with Product Management to plan, schedule, and resource firmware development activitiesCommunicate the big picture perspective, overseeing the End to End firmware flow and component integration.Accountable for on time delivery of firmware, quality, and documentation to our internal teams, customers and partnersDrive collaboration and leadership responsibilities for specific domains or for product development initiatives across the lifecycle of the product, aligned with the needs of our customers and internal teamsCollaborative can-do attitude that can inspire the team and take them to the next level.Influences others as a technical leader, builds and leverages trusting relationships with stakeholdersReady to jump in and work in the trenches coding/debugging if needed to ensure timely deliveryPREFERRED EXPERIENCE:Experience in embedded firmware development with proven knowledge of embedded systemsPrior hands-on involvement in board, processor, or ASIC bring-upExpertise in RTOS (Zephyr, etc), and Microprocessors (Tensilica, ARM Cortex-M, RISC-V)Prior experience managing people and technical teams preferredKnowledge of IO technology such as PCIe, SDXI, USB4 preferredProficient with Git and tools like Gerrit and GithubACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:Undergrad degree. Master or Bachelors of Electrical Engineering, Bachelors of Computer Science or Bachelors or Computer Engineering preferred#LI-BM1#LI-HybridQualifications:At AMD, your base pay is one part of your total rewards package. Your base pay will depend on where your skills, qualifications, experience, and location fit into the hiring range for the position.
