Regular, Full-Time, RCUH Non-Civil Service position with the University of Hawaii at Hilo (UHH), Spatial Data Analysis and Visualization Lab (SDAV), Geographic Information Systems (GIS) project, located in Hilo, Hawaii. Continuation of employment is dependent upon program/operational needs, satisfactory work performance, availability of funds, and compliance with applicable Federal/State laws. MONTHLY SALARY RANGE: $3,800 - $4,600/Mon. DUTIES: Provides a variety of geospatial support for ongoing research projects at SDAV. Processes raw spatial data via GIS, global positioning systems (GPS), remote sensing tools and applications (e.g., ArcGIS Pro, ENVI, and Pix4D). Summarizes data for reports under the guidance of the Principal Investigator (PI). Assists with fieldwork and data collection. Assists with small Unmanned Aircraft System (sUAS) operations following Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regulations. Assists in solving complex and difficult problems related to research applications. Performs educational outreach to local schools and researchers interested in sUAS and geospatial applications. PRIMARY QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION Associates Degree from an accredited community college in Geography, Environmental Science, or related field with upper division coursework in GIS and Remote Sensing. EXPERIENCE At least one (1) year of experience using GIS, Remote Sensing, Structure from Motion, and other Geospatial technologies. KNOWLEDGE Basic knowledge of Geospatial applications, sUAS, ArcGIS Pro, ENVI, Pix4D, differential GPS, and FAA-approved sUAS flight operations. ABILITIES and SKILLS Ability to use GIS and Remote Sensing software. PHYSICAL/MEDICAL DEMANDS Ability to lift and carry up to fifty (50) pounds unassisted. POLICY/REGULATORY REQUIREMENT As a condition of employment, employee will be subject to all applicable RCUH policies, procedures, and trainings and, as applicable, subject to University of Hawaii's and/or business entity's policies, procedures, and trainings. SECONDARY QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelors Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in Geography, Environmental Science, or related field. Experience working with conservation projects in Hawaii.
