Remote Microsoft SQL DBA

Insight Global is looking for a Permanent Remote Senior Microsoft SQL Database Administrator to join one of our finance clients in the upstate of SC. This candidate will be joining a team of two other DBAs and reporting to the Sr Manager of Database and Systems Reliability. This senior candidate will be the right-hand person to the manager. Qualified candidates will have experience working with large databases (at least 15 TBs in size or larger). Day to day tasks will primarily centered around the following:Morning Checks: Start the day by reviewing logs and alerts to ensure the production environment is stable and backups are successful.UAT Deployment Preparation: Coordinate with the development team to prepare for deployments into the User Acceptance Testing (UAT) environment, ensuring all necessary scripts and configurations are ready.UAT Deployment and Testing: Assist in deploying updates to the UAT environment, monitor the process, and support users during the User Acceptance Testing phase.Production Issue Troubleshooting: Investigate and resolve any reported production issues, such as unusual database performance or resource usage. Analyze performance metrics and logs to identify root causes and implement fixes.Production Environment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks like updating indexes, statistics, and performing cleanup operations. Monitor disk space, CPU usage, and I/O performance to ensure optimal operation.Nurturing the Production Environment: Proactively look for potential issues and areas for improvement. Optimize queries and database configurations to enhance performance and collaborate with the development team to ensure best practices are followed.Flexibility and Adaptability: Be prepared to address unexpected issues or urgent requests, adapting to changing priorities and providing quick, effective solutions.End-of-Day Review: Summarize the days activities, document any unresolved issues, and plan for the next days tasks to ensure all critical systems are stable.
