This position is responsible for the installation and maintenance of end-user hardware and software.

Installs and maintains a variety of end-user hardware, software, and peripherals.Troubleshoots and resolves hardware and software issues.Maintains specialty software.Maintains city websites.Programs and maintains phone systems.Writes technical documentation for software, hardware, and websites.Guides and trains end-users in hardware and software operation.Manages and maintains the deployment application.Performs related duties.Knowledge of hardware and software installation, maintenance, and repair principles.Knowledge of software security principles.Knowledge of website management principles.Knowledge of operating systems, Microsoft systems, and Google apps.Skill in troubleshooting and resolving computer hardware and software problems.Skill in training end-users and support personnel.Skill in problem solving.Skill in prioritizing and planning.Skill in interpersonal relations.Skill in oral and written communication.

SUPERVISORY CONTROLS

The Information Technology Manager assigns work in terms of general instructions. The supervisor spot-checks completed work for compliance with procedures, accuracy, and the nature and propriety of the final results.GUIDELINES

Guidelines include industry best practices; manufacturer installation, operations, and repair manuals; security policies, and department and city policies and procedures. These guidelines require judgment, selection, and interpretation in application.

COMPLEXITY/SCOPE OF WORK

The work consists of varied technical duties. Frequent changes to industry standards and the variety of systems to be managed contribute to the complexity of the position.The purpose of this position is to install and maintain end-user hardware and software. Success in this position contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of a variety of city functions.CONTACTS

Contacts are typically with coworkers, vendors, contractors, and other city employees.Contacts are typically to exchange information, resolve problems, and provide services.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ WORK ENVIRONMENT

The work is typically performed while sitting at a desk or table or while intermittently sitting, standing, or stooping. The employee frequently lifts light objects, climbs ladders, and distinguishes between shades of color.The work is typically performed in an office, stockroom, or computer room.SUPERVISORY AND MANAGEMENT RESPONSIBILITY

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the occupational field.Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for two to three years.
