Job Summary Extruder Operator is responsible for operating an extrusion line including all auxiliary equipment, for the purpose of creating quality profiles.Essential Functions Teardown, set up, and start an extruder line with direction from Cell Lead.Must know how to use calipers, micrometer, gauges, other measuring devices, and mating parts to ensure quality products and parts meet customer specifications.Ability to read blueprints.Monitor various inspection/production reports to ensure the production of quality product.Efficiently manage production of product from start to finish of run.Minimize scrap and regrind.Maximize efficiency to reduce overall set-up and start-up time.Must be capable of, but not always required to watch over multiple extrusion lines.Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.Strictly adheres to Company and Plant safety policies and procedures.Other duties as assigned by supervisor.Adheres to siffron Des Plaines safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures.Actively speaks up and reports safety, environmental or quality concerns. Secondary Functions Will assist other operators, as well as production packer on an as needed basis.Operation of Forklift.Adheres to and supports the company's vision, mission, and goals. Performance Measures Must be able to produce parts that meet quality requirements.Minimize the amount of line set-up and start-up time.Run at established efficiency requirements.Minimize scrap and regrind during production runs. Supervisory Responsibility Not applicable. Position Type/Expected Hours of Work Standard schedule is Monday to Friday, 8-hour shifts.Must be flexible to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift.Mandatory overtime on Saturdays may be required.Potential overtime during weekdays may be required. Education and Experience High School Diploma or Equivalent preferred.Minimum 1 year of experience in set-up and/or extrusion process preferred. Skills (Language, Mathematical, Reasoning, Other) Basic math skills.Basic computer skills.Must be able to communicate/read/write in the English language.Forklift certification preferred.
