POSITION SUMMARY:

The Program Developer is responsible for assisting Division Directors in designing programs responsive to identified community needs, identifying likely or necessary community partners,

and securing funding to operate these programs. This staff member may also be required to assist certain selected programs in maintaining compliance with grant or contact regulations, monitoring budgets, and performing other appropriate tasks as assigned.

PROGRAM RESPONSIBILITY:

Provides administrative support to Division Directors in conducting needs assessments, designing services and securing funding for a variety of human services.

PERFORMANCE CRITERIA:

These are the most significant performance factors involved with this position and they will be the principal factors on which the employee will be evaluated:

1. Assist Division Directors in performing needs assessments, collecting demographic data, etc. to determine appropriate services for the target population.

2. Assist Division Directors in designing program objectives, activities, staffing patterns, etc. to provide services in response to identified community needs.

3. Assist Division Directors in information /marketing process to inform community members and other agencies about available services.

4. Seek new funding sources for special programs and/or needs identified in existing program areas.

5. Working with Division Directors and the Finance Director, prepare applications for funding, including planning resources, composing text, preparing budgets, scheduling appropriate review meetings, preparing required forms. And other tasks necessary to assure the submission of clearly organized and competitive applications.

6. In coordination with Division Directors, develop and maintain relationships with external community partners, grant funding partners where appropriate, potential local collaborating agencies, providers of local matching funds, and secure agreements formal or informal, delineating the role of community and funding partners in program implementation plans.

7. Maintain awareness of Division and SoCoCAA long-term plans; assist administrative and program staff in the development of long-term plans if time allows or as directed by the Finance Director.

8. Develop and maintain a file of pertinent demographic data for use in planning and evaluating programs.

9. Develop and maintain a timely and routine system of communications which will keep the Finance Director abreast of all grants and contacts related activities.

10. Represent the organization at interagency functions, funding information meeting, regional coordination efforts, etc.

11. Willingly perform other related duties as assigned by the Finance Director.

Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. B.S. /B.A. in public program administration, or related experience in at least 5 years o prior employment with related job duties.

2. Specialized training and minimum of two (2) years' experience with computerized data management systems,word processing spreadsheets and email required; desk top publishing experience, preferred.

3. Minimum of four years of current, demonstrated successful grant writing. Previous employer must submit a positive recommendation; submittal of a sample, successful grant application absolutely required. Candidates not submitting sample will not be considered for the position.

4. Minimum of one (1) year management level experience in federal, state and/or private grants/contacts administration.

5. Well-established written and oral skills; e.g. report/proposal writing and oral presentations.

6. Familiarity with the Southern Ute Indian Reservation and the Ignacio Community, preferred.

7. Experience working with Indian Tribes or other Indigenous community is desirable.

8. Ability to work well with associates, the public, and various Tribal departments. Work references will be required.
