Overview:The Data Reporting and Resource Associate (DRRA) supports the Office of Institutional Research within the Office of the Provost and is responsible for timely compilation of reports, forms, and data files and participates in the validation process prior to the release to external organizations. Under the direction of the Vice Provost for Institutional Research, the DRRA supports the appropriate use of data resources managed by the Office of Institutional Research for use in University analyses, analytics, benchmarking, and reporting. This includes the development of ad hoc data files and data wrangling of disparately sourced data.Responsibilities:Collaborate with colleagues in the Office of Institutional Research to support the timely and accurate preparation, compilation, and submission of reports, surveys, files, to state and federal agencies, external organizations, and consortia, such as the US Department of Education, US News, the American Association of University Data Exchange (AAUDE) and the Consortium on Financing Higher Education (COFHE).Work with designated contacts in the Office of the Registrar, the Graduate School, the Office of the Dean of the Faculty, the Office of Human Resources, Undergraduate Admission and Undergraduate Financial Aid, and the Office of Finance and Treasury to schedule, prepare, and validate components/sections of data submissions to external organizations.Maintain data documentation, metadata, change logs, submission schedules, and validation logs of the data/reports submitted by the Office of Institutional Research to external organizations.
In collaboration with colleagues in the University Data Office and the Center for Data Analytics & Reporting (CeDAR) to assess, optimize, and maintain the data/reports submitted by the Office of Institutional Research to external organizations.
Support the appropriate use of data resources managed by the Office of Institutional Research for use in University analyses, benchmarking, and reporting. This includes the development of ad hoc data files and data wrangling of disparately sourced data while managing data quality.
Actively participate in campus committees and groups and external professional groups including AAUDE, COFHE-IR, Ivy+-IR, NEAIR, and AIR.
Undertake professional development activities in consultation with the Vice Provost for Institutional Research in the domains of data governance, data security, personal privacy, and methodological and technical knowledge and skills development.
Know and understand how to apply current University policies to apply to assigned tasks.
Qualifications:Bachelor's degree and 1+ years of related work experienceAbility to work toward established deadlines and strong time management skills.Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues having varied technical backgrounds.Ability to analyze data and identify meaningful differences using appropriate techniques.Ability to summarize and report findings in a clear and effective manner to campus audiences.Ability to identify and apply new techniques, skills, and knowledge to assigned tasks.Data management skills including experience with Microsoft Excel and Access. Demonstrated familiarity with query design, formula usage, pivot tables, and charting.Demonstrated ability using SAS, SPSS, Stata, R, or similar statistical package to manipulate data, and conduct statistical analyses.Preferred QualificationsThree years of appropriate work experience strongly preferred.Data management skills including experience with Microsoft Excel and Access. Demonstrated familiarity with query design, formula usage, pivot tables, and charting.Demonstrated ability using SAS, SPSS, Stata, R, or similar statistical packages to manipulate data, and conduct statistical analyses.Document preparation skills including experience with Microsoft Word, and Adobe Acrobat.
