What you'll do...
As a Staff Software Engineer, you'll serve as the subject matter expert and lead engineer for the Global Responsibility SparkGood Programs team. In this role, you'll focus on developing the SparkGood philanthropy platform for Walmart. You'll be responsible for delivering the product roadmap, designing complex changes, and implementing new features. You'll establish a culture of engineering excellence and drive processes and standards within the team. Collaborating closely with product managers and technical architects, you'll help define and address requirements. Additionally, you'll work alongside both senior and junior teammates throughout the software development lifecycle, fostering a collaborative learning environment that emphasizes development, debugging, and operational excellence.

The Global Responsibility SparkGood Programs team is dedicated to supporting company-wide philanthropy initiatives that benefit non-profit organizations. Walmart's programs enable non-profits to raise funds through purchases made by users on Walmart.com and by company associates. Additionally, the team facilitates support for associates facing hardship through the ACNT Together Fund.

What you'll do:
Lead the development of Sparkgood backend and orchestration systems, migration existing legacy code to new state-of-art technologies and initiatives under product roadmaps.Actively participate and lead the technical requirements analysis, design review, contract closure with cross-functional teams across the globe.Participate in and identify architectural improvements, code review, best practices, delivering testable, maintainable, and high-quality solutions.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand project requirements, timelines, and deliverables.Mentor/coach other engineers in the team to facilitate their development and to provide technical leadership to them.Manage and maintain multiple production and non-production environments, ensuring that these environments are setup with the standard automated build and releases processes & deliver with quality, reliability.Build, leverage and analyze tools, application logs, and analytics data to determine improvements to the product and engineering services.Monitor the health of web pages, work cross-functionally with partner teams such as Site Ops, Network, Storage, Systems, Monitoring & Application team.Set high standards for operational excellence and system observability.Encourage a culture of innovation, creativity, and high standards within the team, promoting the adoption of new technologies and best practices.What you'll bring:
10+ years of hands-on programming experience in primarily in Java.Excellent computer systems fundamentals, Algorithms, and problem-solving skillsStrong experience with SQL /No-SQL and database, distributed caching, distributed event store and stream-processing technologies (MySQL, Cassandra, Oracle, CosmosDB, Elastic, Redis, Kafka etc.)Strong knowledge in developing API's in GraphQL and/ or REST.Experience in systems design, design patterns, microservices and distributed systems.Experience building ETL pipeline using standard workflow tools such Azure Data Factory, Google DataFlow is preferredExperience in system monitoring , logging, tracing, and triaging tools ( e.g. Grafana, Splunk, kibana etc.)Large-scale distributed services experience, including scalability and fault tolerance.Exposure to cloud infrastructure, such as Azure, GCP, or Open Stack.Exposure to build, CI/CD & deployment pipelines and related technologies like Kubernetes, Docker, Jenkins etc. especially with Go-based applications

The annual salary range for this position is $116,900.00-$217,100.00
Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
