Job Description
The
Linux Systems Engineer
at iboss is responsible for handling the supporting Infrastructure, operating systems, virtual platforms, and applications. The Engineer is responsible for the integrity and security of the servers and computer systems by following established security protocols and practices.
ResponsibilitiesManaging and maintaining iboss monitoring systems, ensuring the systems are updated with changing technologies.Primary responsibility for setup, installation, integration, monitoring, documentation, and maintenance of all Linux-based systems in a centralized IT environmentResponding to the system and/or network faults to ensure internal and external SLAs are metFollowing escalation procedures to engage key resources to respond to critical eventsWorking with internal stakeholders (DevOps, support, sales) and 3rd party vendors to schedule maintenanceWrite and maintain custom scripts to increase system efficiency and lower the human intervention time on any tasksAssist in the integration of new systems and toolsProvide escalation-level technical support and system engineering for all Linux-based platformsWork with team members to perform regular system audit and security reviews, including evaluation, implementation, and management of best practices in computer securityCreate and maintain documentation related to global points of presence and proceduresManaging multiple vendors and proper management of the hardwareQualifications
Working knowledge of cloud platforms experience building a high availability infrastructureHeavy automation experience that adheres to software development disciplines with strong knowledge of the DevOps processA desire to "automate everything" is the right attitudePossess a deep understanding of Internet based technologies (DNS, Security, IP Routing, SSH, FTP, HTTP/HTTPS, etc.)Experience with SQLExperience with virtualization platforms such as Open stack, KVM etc.In conjunction with a desire to "automate everything", you are compelled to "document everything"Collaborative, team focus with experience working in a 24x7 uptime environment with an on-call componentComfort with collaboration, open communications and reaching across different production teamsDeep understanding of IP network technologies and software tools for performance monitoring and troubleshootingBenefits
