Database Admin III As required by our governmental client, this position requires being a US Citizen. The successful candidate will provide full turn-key customization and operational functionality of Freezerworks software within an Army research laboratory environment within 5 months of hire. This will include setting or updating roles and permissions and authorities, configuring the database for 30-40 storage units, selecting/inputting field names and defining field characteristics, transferring/migrating existing data from Excel workbooks and spreadsheets to Freezerworks, data testing and validation/verification, working with lab personnel to physically test/assure data represents the physical specimens, and training Freezerworks users and maintainers for hand-off. Will need to develop various support tools, such as database dictionaries, data transfer keys, and workflows. Establish and maintain security and integrity controls. Formulate and monitor policies, procedures and standards relating to database use and management. Compensation & Benefits: Estimated Starting Salary Range for Database Admin III : $ Pay commensurate with experience. Database Admin III Responsibilities Include: Plans, coordinates, implements database objects and/or database object modifications to support application implementation. Implements Freezerworks database for program use, inclusive of: configuring the database for up to 52 storage units, transferring data, developing a dictionary and all required software use procedures and workflow (such as for laboratory level operations of software, instructions for account set-up, and system administrator level) Test and validate data, and database records to physical inventory; Freezerwork software entry validation; and functionality checks for the key capabilities wanted by customers, such as form and report generation, data entry, regulatory compliance requirements. Meets weekly with the Freezerworks consultant for implementation purposes. Updates management and customers weekly on progress, issues, mitigations, and impacts. Works with Compliance Manager, the government customer, and CNIH Team. This includes Directors, PIs, RIs, RSs, RAs, and laboratory business support. Trains laboratory personnel, biospecimen manager, compliance manager, and others in using the Freezerworks database and in changes to workflows and SOPs. Develops and implements performance metrics and reporting. Monitors databases using various performance monitoring tools. Communicates existing and/or potential performance issues to appropriate support groups. Functions as Freezerworks administrator for the program. Maintains detailed records and logs of all activities and procedures. Must be able to manage changing priorities and workloads. Provides support to internal and external customers on a daily basis. Provides support for after-hours support operations and system maintenance that may occur. Mentors' lab and other professionals in use of Freezerworks. Participates in capacity planning activities and Database Backup / Recovery / Disaster Recovery. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Database Admin III Experience, Education, Skills, Abilities requested: Bachelor's Degree in a related field of study and at least 6 years progressive IT and database administration experience, with at least 4 years' experience implementing, maintaining, or using LIMS. Working knowledge of research laboratory biospecimen use, storage, and components (e.g., specimens and storage techniques, aliquots, classifications, types of storage, etc.). Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of specified database tools, methodologies, and configuration. Knowledge of all aspects of Information Systems. Knowledge of basic system protocols and methodologies. Demonstrated ability to Work in a research laboratory in the DoD domain. Demonstrated advanced analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a team or independently. Demonstrated ability to get the job done and work well under pressure and handle multiple projects at once. Demonstrated ability to represent employer and customer professionally. Demonstrated ability to use professional judgment and act knowingly and wisely. Must have and maintain a valid driver's license.
