GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:The administrative group of the RNA Therapeutics Institute collaborates to support our researchers so that they can focus on research. Making use of a wide range of experience and expertise, we provide professional and comprehensive support in management, financial and grant accounting, human resources, lab operations, scientific writing, outreach, and individual assistance. We are committed to building a work environment based on integrity, civility, and respect by recognizing and welcoming our strengths and diversity.Under the direction of the Academic Administrator or designee, the Administrative Coordinator II performs varied administrative duties and tasks to provide dedicated support to Investigator(s), research staff and graduate students. Duties and tasks can be complex in nature where critical thinking, sound judgment, independent action and initiative are required. This role serves as the primary point person for lab personnel in support of all administrative activities.Responsibilities:MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:Participate in the planning and organization of all office functions; including budgeting, policies, procedures, and procurementCompile budget information, support department accounting, and assist with all fiscal projectsMonitor the disbursement of funds to determine appropriateness of expenditures and compliance within budgetCoordinate travelPerform complex and varied executive/administrative functions which require a high degree of independent actionDesign and produce graphics using a variety of software applicationsTrain staff in both basic and enhanced use of software applicationsOversee, train, and monitor clerical staffMaintain confidentiality and safeguard department records regarding employee job descriptions, performance appraisals, and other sensitive informationSet priorities and procedures for accomplishing tasks, assign and coordinate support staff activities, and manage the work flow of the departmentRespond to emergencies, independently prioritize activities in the absence of the department heads, and effectively coordinate other resources when necessaryAct as a liaison and respond to the requests of constituent groups, senior leadership, and employees within the organizationPerforms other duties as required.

Qualifications:REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:Bachelor of Science degree in a related field, or equivalent experience1-3 years of experience in executive/administrative coordination, or related experienceExcellent word processing and spreadsheet skillsStrong grammar, spelling, and oral and written communication skills requiredDemonstrated the ability to organize and manage a complex office environment with minimal supervisionDemonstrated initiative and independent judgment in organizing and completing projects.
