Assistive Technology Home Accessibility Specialist
Advancing Opportunities, an affiliate with Apis Services is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill the role of part-time Assistive Technology Home Accessibility Specialists positions.
Part-time position in Central & Northern NJ - position requires 35% travel time with mileage reimbursement
The AT Specialist is responsible for providing direct assistive technology services to eligible individuals. To fulfill the purpose of the position the incumbent will provide technical assistance and consultation for other professionals, technology users, and their families. These activities occur through site visits, telephone and written communication.
The AT Specialist is also responsible for performing assessments of homes to determine what modifications to the home are necessary to make the home accessible for people with disabilities.

Requirements:Associates Degree required; Bachelor degree in the technical sciences, or a rehabilitation services related field preferred.Minimum of one-year experience working with individuals with disabilities and one-year experience working in an assistive technology related field.Knowledge of home accessibility products (ramps, lifts, bathroom modifications).Following the eligibility standards of RESNA's Assistive Technology Professional certification, experience may serve as a substitute to a degree.Valid driver's licenseConsent to State & Federal Criminal Background Checks;Drug Screen; Pre-Employment Physical & PPD;Complete all orientation & pre-service training as requiredResponsibilities / Essential Duties:
Assess individuals with disabilities and their environments for assistive technology interventions, making use of available resources;Support implementation of recommendations through installation and training in use of assistive technology;Conduct all work with strict adherence to safety regulations;Complete work in a timely fashion;Maintain and submit, as required, client-related files, reports, records, and data collection materials in a timely fashion to meet department requirements;Conduct workshops in areas such as computer access, environmental controls, and job site accommodations to consumers, parents, and rehabilitation professionals throughout the state.Travel 35% of the position with mileage reimbursementMarginal Duties:
Attending staff and other meetings as assigned;Additional responsibilities as assigned by immediate supervisor, Director, or Executive Director.Physical Requirements:
Mobility and ability to bend and reach during an eight-hour day. Able to lift a minimum of 25 pounds. Has visual and auditory acuity sufficient to evaluate and treat a consumer needs. Fine motor skills and legible and accurate writing of reports, daily correspondence and presentation either manually or orally.

If the accommodation cannot be made because it would cause the employer undue hardship such persons may not be eligible.
Working Conditions:
Incumbent must be able to travel throughout New Jersey and occasionally to New York and Pennsylvania . Incumbent must be willing to work a variety of hours, including evenings and weekends in order to meet the requirements of program's funding sources.
