Senior Technical Game Designer - Ouro at Meta in Boise, Idaho, United States Job Description Summary: The Horizon Team at Meta is building a social User Generated Content (UGC) platform where the world's creators will be able to create their place, and enable their communities to connect, engage and play in all kinds of ways. We are driven to create a safe and compelling metaverse for never-ending exploration and games, and our journey's just beginning.OURO Interactive is Oculus Studios' newest 1st Party game studio, and Meta's first in-house game studio dedicated exclusively to creating lighthouse games for Horizon Worlds. As a Senior Technical Game Designer for OURO Interactive, you'll be at the forefront of shipping VR-best experiences for the ever-expanding Horizon metaverse.As a Senior Technical Game Designer, you will be responsible for designing, prototyping, and implementing gameplay mechanics and core systems for the game. You'll be responsible and a major driver of the full end-to-end experience of how players experience our game. This entails working closely with Art, Design, and Engineering to create and iterate on the combat loop, gameplay loop, and core systems to provide the best gameplay experience in VR. Required Skills: Senior Technical Game Designer - Ouro Responsibilities: 1. Design end-to-end experiences with satisfying and novel core mechanics and loops. 2. Create prototypes independently and in collaboration with other designers. 3. Implement gameplay mechanics or systems into the game - bonus if you specialize in combat and encounter mechanics. 4. Implement UI and UI systems into the game - bonus if you specialize in other areas of front-end development. 5. Develop new types of combat or encounter mechanics. 6. Help establish preliminary processes to align cross-functional teams. 7. Contribute to strategic decisions, working with the Design and Product teams. 8. Give and solicit real time feedback from other designers to continually raise the quality and craftsmanship of the product. 9. Clearly articulate prototypes, design decisions, and concepts to a vast set of internal stakeholders. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: 10. 5+ years of game design experience or a minimum of 2 shipped titles on any platform that have been successful (highly rated, critically acclaimed, award-winning, etc.). 11. Experience with technical aspects of game design such as coding in Unity or Unreal with C# or C++. 12. Experience with scripting languages such as Lua or Typescript. 13. Experience leading end-to-end development efforts and designing games from concept to launch and live ops. 14. Experience coordinating and collaborating with diverse cross functional teams to bring a vision to life. 15. A portfolio that features some games you have prototyped or shipped, and showcases your game design skills. Preferred Qualifications: Preferred Qualifications: 16. Shipped a minimum of 3 titles on any platform that have been successful (highly rated, critically acclaimed, award-winning, etc). 17. Experience developing and shipping game projects from zero-to-1 (concept and prototyping to launch). 18. General design knowledge across a range of design specializations. 19. Experience in design strategy in addition to fluency in executing such as tuning the feel of the game. 20. Experience utilizing research and data to drive strategy and decision making. 21. Experience developing or designing VR or AR games.
