Holidays and every other weekend expected. Guaranteed Hours: Not specified Experience: Minimum of 1 year in inpatient psychiatric nursing License: Registered Nurse (RN) Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Must-Have: - Experience as a charge nurse - Strong communication skills - Dependable and punctual - Ability to work effectively within a team - Capability to adapt quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment Job Description: - Be part of a 25-bed acute psychiatric unit catering to patients presenting with depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, suicidal or homicidal tendencies, and dual diagnoses. - Work in a team of 5 staff members for patient counts between 18-25 or 4 staff members for patient counts between 11-17. - Fulfill responsibilities in one of three main roles per shift: Charge Nurse, Admission Nurse, or Medication Nurse. - Collaborate with Mental Health Assistants, working cohesively to manage patient care loads and group facilitation. - Participate in general nursing duties, including but not limited to taking vital signs, leading patient group activities, and conducting patient rounds. - Respond to crises safely and effectively, utilizing restraints only as a last resort, with security staff available for backup. - Engage in a robust orientation program lasting 3-4 days covering all unit roles. - Transition to wearing navy-blue scrubs by December. - Embrace the opportunity to float to similar units when necessary.
