Job Description Cisco Network Admin. - Norfolk, Virginia (onsite) We are seeking a skilled Network Administrator to deploy and maintain our campus networks, ensuring optimal performance and reliability. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Cisco hardware, network diagnostic tools, and troubleshooting both cloud and local infrastructure. This role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to work independently and as part of a team, and excellent communication abilities. Responsibilities: Deploy functional wired/wireless campus networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN). Monitor network performance and integrity to identify areas for improvement. Troubleshoot and resolve issues escalated from the helpdesk, involving both cloud and local infrastructure. Collaborate with third-party vendors to ensure network efficiency. Communicate with network users to resolve issues. Maintain comprehensive technical documentation. Analyze data to identify potential improvements within the network. Minimum Qualifications: Associate degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training. Extensive experience in customer support, including problem definition and resolution for both network hardware and software. Significant experience with Cisco routers and switches. Proficiency with network diagnostic, monitoring, and analysis tools (e.g., Cisco Prime Infrastructure, SolarWinds). Strong knowledge and experience configuring DNS and DHCP. In-depth understanding of communication protocols (mainly TCP/IP) and routing protocols (e.g., BGP, OSPF). Extensive experience administering campus/organization LAN/WAN environments, including wireless access points. Experience with Network Access Control (NAC), especially Cisco ISE, is desirable. Proven hands-on network troubleshooting experience. Self-starter capable of working independently and in a team environment. Demonstrated ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning of network communication systems. Preferred Qualifications: 2-5 years of experience administering Cisco in LAN/WAN environments. Experience with access control models and network security. Technical knowledge of current network technologies, protocols, and industry best practices. Ability to conduct research related to networking issues and products as required. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to present technical information in a user-friendly manner. Solid background in network administration and architecture. Strong understanding of network operating systems (JUNOS, Cisco IOS). Industry certifications such as CCNP are a plus .
